What is Nutrigenomic Testing?

Nutrigenomics is the study of how genetic variations may influence nutritional requirements and the way individuals respond to food, nutrients and certain lifestyle factors.

Unlike blood tests or Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, your DNA doesn't change throughout your life. It provides information about your genetic blueprint rather than your current state of health.

While your genes may influence certain nutritional needs or predispositions, they do not determine your health outcomes. Lifestyle, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress and other environmental factors all play an important role in how those genes are expressed.

How Does Nutrigenomic’s Work?

Testing is completed using a simple cheek (buccal) swab that is sent to a specialised laboratory for analysis.

Once your results are available, I interpret them alongside your health history, symptoms, lifestyle and, where appropriate, pathology and other clinical information.

The goal isn't to focus on individual genetic variants. Instead, it's to identify patterns that may help personalise your nutrition, lifestyle and supplement recommendations based on your unique genetic profile.

Not everyone requires nutrigenomic testing. Whether it is recommended depends on your health concerns, goals and individual circumstances.
